2.0 16v. Ecotec.-Classic O2 sensor problems but no ML light on, so I swapped for a 'used one' from the breakers.Car runs perfect for two miles, problem comes back, then ML light comes on!Flashed the codes and got O2 sensor fault-Damn, wasted a Tenner. So I bought a Aftermarket O2 sensor (£43) half the price of an OE part (expensive Titania On this Vectra)After fitting, the classic poor running is back, but with no ML light showing? Anyone had any experience of 'Aftermarket Sensors'? Cheers.

i had problems with a universal one on my golf...genuine bosch one cured all the probs

What problems did you have? Did you get your money back? Did a ML light come on or not?

I had O2 issues with my Omega X20XEV ( Simtec 56.1 ECU), I bought this sensor and it has been fine since:-

www.gendan.co.uk/product_LB1107.html

An e-mail enquiry to them was answered within minutes, the sensor arrived by post within 24 hours of ordering.

I suspect that for the first couple of minutes from starting the ECU is ignoring the O2 sensor anyway, and running 'open loop'. Once it thinks the sensor is up to operating temperature it will start monitoring it, and hence the EML appears. It is worth checking the state of the connector between the O2 sensor & the wiring loom, just in case this is causing problems

The Aftermarket sensor I bought had no connecter fitted,it came with crimp fittings and heatshrink. It was also £33 cheaper than the one you have shown me! Thats why I put this post up,to see if anyone had experience with the cheaper ones-Thanks anyway.Mick.

I couldn't find a cheaper Titania sensor; Vx wanted 150 quid, the 40 quid ones were all Zirocnia ones which will be stuff all use on an ecotec :-((

www.autovaux.co.uk ?

I tried Autovaux, as usual, DD; they were within a couple of quid of Gendan; who, unlike Autovaux, answered my email very promptly, hence got my custom.

Having said that Autovaux still get most of my spares budget....

Yes, I've heard that said of Autovaux before. However, apparantely phone call enquires are a more reliable and quicker way of contacting them.

>>apparantely phone call enquires are a more reliable and quicker way of contacting them.

Indeed, I've often phoned up for parts on a Friday afternoon and had them delivered down here to the wilds(ish) of the New Forest before dinnertime Saturday. But 80% of my e-mails go unanswered, although having disucssed the matter with them - by phone - they promised to address the issue.

If your correct, and I hope you are not.Why does the ML light not come on? It looks the same (4 wires)and it had all the info. on the packet.I get all my bits from vauxcentre on e-bay,but with it being a friday, checked out my local Motor Factors who had one in stock, and a fiver cheaper than on e-bay.I had no problem finding a Titania sensor on e-bay just typed in vauxhall lambda sensor?

>>Why does the ML light not come on?
Mine was quite intermittant, seems the lambda reading from the sensor could be quite a long way off before the ECU decided it was out of limits & flag the EML. Alternatively; maybe you had two problems, and the lambda sensor chnage has cured one of them. I had this, the other problem was dodgy HT leads, which didn't cause an EMl but sure as hell affetced the running.

I've just had a quick look on ebay, can't see any titania sensors cheaper than about 70 notes -today anyway - that vauxhall centre looks useful though , thanks for the info on that.

It seems that you can tell if its a Titania Sensor because it will have a Red and Yellow wire as well as the black and white ones!
Vectra Woe's - mickyh7
My mistake It was £53 not £43.

Zirconia and Titania sensors are not interchangable - you have to get the correct one.
Vectra Woe's - elekie&a/c doctor
As reported above ,a titania sensor is the only type that will work correctly on an ecotec engine. It runs at a completely different voltage (1-5v as an example). However these are available from NGK/NTK at considerable saving from Vauxhall-and they work.
Vectra Woe's - mickyh7
Hold on there people! I asked if Aftermarket Sensors were any good.It seems two say no and one says yes. Thank you.The one I fitted is an NTK part and the Part No's check out as it being a Titania Sensor.
Vectra Woe's - SpamCan61 {P}
I think we're all in agreement that an aftermarket sensor will work if it is a 4 wire Titania sensor.
Vectra Woe's - Aprilia
If its NKT and the correct part no. then it should work like a charm!
