Nobody has said anything about the "special" Driven last night.

David,
I think they are all still in shock from seeing Penny's all black outfit!

I'm saying nothing about Penny.
But where was the nice Mercedes SLK/CLK in the "what does the car say about you" consumer test? As for the BMW winning that, where did they get the sample crowd from?
Important note: No I don't mean why did *a* BMW win but why did that particular BMW win in that particular group.

I have to say the X5 looks mean, even when you know its just got Mum trying to supervise the kids last minute homewoerk, sort out the arguments about why have we got Spam sarnies again, why can't I have Ribena for my lunch drink, phoning the hairdressers, gym club, and arranging a venue for the ladies who lunch, oh yes and observing the road in a spare second, all while trying to drive Martyn BRM off the public highway.
By mean I reckon its an ideal mafioso machine.

Yep I followed a black one for a while the other day, quite mean. This one had road type tyres so wide they nearly met in the middle, looked like some F1 wet weathers from the 70s.
Anyway I passed him on the Fen roads that should have "Citroen's only" signs!

This is why everyone hates our railways. On a 1 hour journey, my train was only 1.5 hours late and so I missed Driven. Did I miss much - save Penny's outfit :(

I missed it last week becuase I forgot to set the video so remembered this time and sat down to enjoy it later on. I think the love theme was horribly contrived, but good for a laugh for the stereotypical statements the Joe Public representatives were making. But choosing the BMW as the winner!?! Now the Eagle E-Type was another story, I'd find it hard to choose between it and a Cobra Mk4......................the only problem is finding a spare £100K!

The X5 4.4 in black with all the windows blacked out and its four huge tail pipes is the meanest machine on the road. That's why it won. Nothing to do with taste. Everything to do with looking like the man.

Are you serious?
there was no competition, sexy car ? i think not

They do look the absolute business, especially with those mean 19" rims and low profile tires (great for off roading). I saw a really tricked out in Cockfosters once, it looked too cool for school.

Am I the only one who thinks the X5 looks like a Daewoo Musso?
|
I agree the styling is terrible , why do we always have to have the trade mark grill? come on BMW show some imagination , copy Jag

I wasn't going to bother to post about last night's "Drivel", for fear of being branded negative. For me, the programme was almost a waste of electricity in running the telly.
My hopes for the Valentine theme weren't high but, as for the sample crowd of "expert" love posers - where on earth did they get them? If they turned up in our local they'd probably get laughed out of the door!
Mind you, Penny's sprayed on PVC leather looked quite good, didn't it?
I think the best part was Mike Brewer's "duet" with his "brother" - very well done, Mike. I don't know much about the Eagle E-Type and it would have been nice to have had a few more details. Perhaps another time?
I think we have to put last night's show down to a one-off aberation by the production teams' desire to contrive something for Valentine's day. I just hope that it's not a signal that it's going the same way as TG.

......and what's the idea of Citroen Saxo vs Scooby vs Evo VI?
|
I understand the street pharmacists 'car of choice'is the BMW X5.
|
Tony,
That was my assumption about the BMW, hence I just couldn't understand the group missing the fact that the *top* image had a flipside.
I was at a classic auction the other year and my companion was admiring a fully loaded late 70s Mercedes Coupe. Two words I said....."Pimp's Car"!

>>Two words I said....."Pimp's Car"!
Either you're spending too much time watching reruns of Starsky and Hutch, or the Fens area has changed somewhat lately.
|
Mark,
Well perhaps nearer to a scraggy Astra round here then.
