Hi Guys and Ladies,
Going to change my tyres this week and wanting to pay Kwik Fit / ATS prices, anyone recommend a good independent in the Manchester Area (north/central) for tyres? Looking for Goodyear NT5's 205/55/16 or similar brand.

Assumming you don't why not try Blackcircles.com - they send the tyres to your local independent where they will fit them for you. You only pay Blackcircles so there is no extra charge to pay the local fitter. My cheapest quote cam from Micheldever tyres but as they're in Winchester they were a bit to far for me to travel - I range Blackcircles and they did a price beat. You can even collect Airmiles or shell plus points too!

I used blackcircles recently and very pleased with the service and price. Others have suggested mytyres.com but I found that their fitter network in my area was n't as good.

you could give Autofit in Chorley a ring, 01257 264404 (approx 25 miles away), had some NCT fittes to mine few weeks ago 195/65/15 v, cost £52.00 each all in, good service and quick, can be busy though.

Thanks for responces so far guys, I've checked blackcircles and they are MUCH cheaper than kwik fit.
Kwik fit want £193.50 for 2 NT5's fitted, Blackcircles only want £133!! fitted for the exact same tyres!!!

I used mytyres and they were cheap and quick to deliver.
I paid £10 per tyre to have them fitted.
Still saved over £10 per tyre compared to my local supplier.
NCT5 are 65.20 for runout model or 71.40 for latest model
so with fitting approx £300 - 325 for 4.
You will need to contact them for a local recommended tyre fitter or just ring around some local ones.

Dont always assume an independant is cheaper, they quoted me £165 for a centre & back exhaust for a Rover. ATS charged me £108.

You can always find someone who is willing to fit tyres that you've purchased yourself from someone like Mytyres or Blackcircles. Don't just rely on their recommended fitting network.
Forget the big boys like Kwik-Fit or ATS, etc, if you didn't buy the tyres from them they won't want to know.
The places to go are the small local independents; they'll probably do a better job, too. A few telephone calls should soon find one local to you.

I have just checked the blackcicles site and the comparison with what I consider the going rate is as follows.
black circles Good Independent
205/55vr16 NCT5 x 2 £143 £122
" Hydragrip £189 £132
205/55wr16 NCT5 £146 £136
" Excellence £179 £144
I find the difference staggering considering the only major overhead they have is postage. Plus if there are any problems you know where to go back to. Might I suggest you try Barry & Wilkinson in Wythenshawe. I know Mike Barry personally and can vouch he runs a quality set up. Print this page as I know he will wince a little at the quoted prices. I am seeing him on a trip next week so I will mention this to him. I hope all goes well......

I've also used Thistlethwaites in Bolton and had good prices and good service.
Preston might be a bit too far for you to go- but Jewel Tyres on Fylde Road, Presotn are good in my experience. Its a small back place off Fylde Road, no thrill's but good prices and don't expect to pay on plastic !
