I am after some information on brake hoses and their current lifespan.

brake hoses last as long as they last, the best way to check is visually. i was peeved when i had to change my brake hoses on the front ( the originals from the factory ) at 172 000 when the plastic protectors finally cut into the hose... so check the hoses at joints, clips, ect... at the same mileage i replaced the original rear hoses as the uninions to the brake pipes were seized and i sawed them im half :D .. im sure there will be manufactorers guidlines.. but if in doubt they are around £10 - £20 for standards
id advise having some copper brake pipe, a brake pipe flaring tool and unions, incase its all seized.

Brake flexible hoses can last a long time, really depends on how often the brake fluid change-ie has this been done on regular basis or has this change been neglected?
Its not a good idea to leave fluid change, in that the fluid deteriorates over time and gives little or no protection to brake interior parts.
usually a good idea to replace any cracked flexible hoses as there is no telling how long they will last,Bit like asking how long before failure and an accident possibly kills.No one can answer

it would be highly unlikely to have sudden, complete brake hoses failure, it usually starts with a leak. if your fluid level drops, pedal becomes spongey, or moisture/wetness around the brake calliper, then imediate investigation is needed, it best to sort your brakes, dont leave till tomorrow kind of job
