Some recent time spent under the Corssa's run by my son & daughter led me to thinkning..
The 1.0 has a panel (About a foot by a foot shaped) fixed under the engine near the wheel, so does the 1.4 but . . .
The 1.0 has it on the near side and the 1.4 on the off side. Am aware that the 1.0 has been off road (but did not see the panel left on the verge) but the 1.4 has not.
Should there be a panel on each side? Will need to go in to Vauxhall to look at a new one.

If you can wait until this evening I'll examine the Haynes manual which shows the underbody view & if it's not too dark & cold I'll have a look under my wife's 1.0 litre Corsa. I'll report back. I assume you are talking about the latest model? Many years ago I had a similar thing with my Mk3 Cavalier which looks different from o/s & n/s underneath when you would think it should be symmetrical. Nothing was wrong there.

I've had a look at the underside engine photo in the Haynes manual (it was too snowy to crawl under wife's car) and I'm afraid I can't see any plate as you describe. Only large flat thing near the wheel (I assume you mean the road wheels) is the final drive cover & I assume that is metal & in the same place whether 1.0 litre or 1.4 litre. Sorry!

The 1.0 is a 51 and the 1.4 an 04.
My concern is that they are different.

I know nothing about Corsa
But is it possible that the engines are east west in one and west east in the other?
