Go Away and ask the MOT inspector you used to be.

Don't you ever give up?

Is this true? Are you an MOT inspector?

Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - ladas are slow
thanks to the college course i am now a mot tester (gateshead college, motor vehicle mechanics year 2)

Then perhaps you would tell us if a BX could have an MOT pass with the STOP light on??

David
Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - ladas are slow
it would fail, considering that its going to be either the brakes, steering, or suspension.

Incorrect my little pretend tester friend.

Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - ladas are slow
i have my testers certificate in a frame and hanging on the kitchen wall (yes its a real one). i would fail the citroen if the stop light was on during the test, because it means that the brakes are duff, the steering going, or something to do with the suspension.
Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - Jim
this could explian a lot about the *meaningfulness' of the present MOT system.
If the car fails, just try somewhere else.
The sooner we adopt a comprehensive and properly controlled European type system the better..

Still wrong, haven't you read the testers manual section "Fully pressured braking systems and safety reserve".

Check your LHM level - the brass disc on the level indicator should be between the 2 red lines when the suspension is set on it's HIGHEST setting.

l.a.s.

Is the oil light wired to the STOP warning on the BX dash? Sounds a lot like low engine oil level - gravitating away fro m the pick up when cornering.
Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - Simon Butterworth
from experience I think LHM, Oil and coolant all bring on the STOP together with assocaited warning. Coolant warning can also function as a back up for low oil(?).
Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - ladas are slow
the problem started when we had the ignition barrel replaced.
Re: the 'STOP' light on a BX. - ChrisR
Oh, blimey. MOT testers look at dashboard warning lights to tell if there are faults. I'm not a mechanic. I'm not an MOT tester. But I don't even trust the fuel gauge. If I want to know if the brake pads are worn, I don't wait for the warning light to come on. Oh, no. By then it's far too late. My guess is that real (scrupulous) MOT testers check the performance, not the warning lights. Don't be daft Chris W., nobody takes you seriously. Why not just be truthful?

The large, fleshy orbs at the bottom of your spine are called "buttocks" (aka the arse). They are designed for you to sit on.
The bony thing, like a hinge, halfway down your arm, is called an "elbow". This enables you to bend your arm.

Do you know the difference between the two?
