OK, this will get the Fiat fans going!
I wonder how long the new Fiat Thingy's electrics would last if people really treated them like they do in the TV advert (in the UK) for it?!
If I was a punter in the market for a new car, I don't think the ad would convince me. But then again, maybe I'm old fashioned.

Yeah, and how much of it is going to work in 6 years time? On a FIAT? Sounds like trouble to me.

Obviously the advertising agency Fiat employed didn't do their homework.
The adv. also brought back memories of bad electrics on Fiats.

We used to have a Fiat Bravo. When the 147 came out, although we'd bought a Golf, I had a look at the 147 and surprise, many of the switches and connectors looked very similar to the Bravo. It's this attention to detail in addition to a poor local dealership that put me off Fiat.
For any new car buyers the Stilo could end up (like the Bravo/a) being a poor choice to sell on.

Disappointingly and cynically, I suspect that Fiat and their add agency know full well that the average customer is not as discerning as people are on this page. They target young 20 and 30 somethings, upwardly mobile and total suckers to fashion and looks (my generation) who will not consider the practicalities of a cars reliability and endurance.
Belief me, wanting to look cool like those lads and lasses in the commercial is what it's all about!

The average customer for the FIAT Stilo could well turn out to be the car rental companies, as was the case with the Bravo/Brava and (tragically for FIAT) the Tipo before that. I write "tragically" because the Tipo was a very good car with decent handling and performance and the widest back seat in the class. I made a lot of money out of Tipos.

But what can you reasonably expect from a Fiat/Alfa Euroshed?

If you ever attend a car auction and walk thru the fleet halls you will soon realise the only cars that DONT have a Eurobox look are Fiat/Alfa's.
While i would agree the build quality and customer service are lacklustre the overall experience of owning a Alfa Romeo is excellent. As for Fiat their only great models have been the Coupe and Punto.
I'm sure HJ's right about the Stilo ,destined for rental fleets.
