Hi All,
I have a Nissan Micra that's about 3.5 years old that has started creaking.
The suspension has always made loud creaking noises going over big bumps, where my Dad's that is about 6 years old makes no suspension noises to speak of.
I've now noticed louded creaking noises at slow speaks in car parks - especially when turning sharply and braking - such as when swinging into the parking space.
Does anyone have an idea what it might be? The car is just approaching 25000 miles, but has been creaking for quite some time now.
Any thoughts appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt

ive had a creak on my car for 6 months (nissan actually) and like most people in the trade ignored it and reckoned it would go away, anyway it didnt/hasnt and just today i put it on the ramp and found a bush on the drop link antirollbar is clonking on the strut locator, not the end of the world but very bugging so my advise?
........................get it on a ramp wheels free ideally and get someone to check everything.
This is unrelated but the daughters punto she said, was tramlining and crashing down potholes and unsafe to drive, i spent 40 minutes checking everything mechanical this morning and gave the car a clean bill of health including tracking, what did i find after a 5 mile drive and confirmation of dangerous at any speed???? 52 psi in every tyre.

A brokenspring will make creaking noises as the two broken ends rub together. This is very noticeable when braking when on a full lock..making a three point turn for instance.

Hi There,
If I had a broken spring would I not notice other rather more severe symptoms? Like the car dipping violently on the broken spring? It hsa creaked since day 1, just now it's more of a loud groan - particularly during full lock activities like you mention.
I think I'll get it booked in somewhere so I can get it in the air and try and find it. Couldn't find a thing on ramps...
Thanks,
Matt

depends on how the collapsed spring has broken and where,Though from what you mentioned I would suspect its a damper rather than spring

Mine used to creak for years - it seems common on these. According to someone on a Micra forum (do a Google) it can be alleviated by greasing up one of the suspension joints. Probably nothing more serious than this.
