Just had rear discs and pads replaced on my 2002 model Passat PD replaced by ATS, who are very handy for me.
Discs and pads cost £172 inc. vat. I note there was zero labour costs on the receipt - probably due to me coughing and spluttering at their original quote.
GSF seem to have so many pads and discs over a wide price span that I can not tell if that cost is reasonable.

I wasna fu but just had plenty.

Two disks and a set of pads looks like +- £15.00 per item retail.
= £45 +vat.
0.5 hours work.
Nice work if you can get it.......

thats an average price for the fast fit industry i once worked for them, you may have got it a little cheaper but as you said they are handy for you, plus you get a a no quible warranty.

What make of brakes did they fit GWT?
I recently had Apec discs and pads all round on my Passat for £304 inc VAT, from my local garage.
|
Code on receipt for pads and discs is GBP957AF and GBD1122 if that makes sense.
The grinding noise has gone from the rear anyway. The outer 12mm or so of the old discs were thick with rust.Still passed MOT.

On the older passat that i used to have,i replaced the discs and pads with Pagid pads and Zimmermann discs from GSF.When i compared them to the original factory fitted items they were identical, including the part numbers.Only difference was the pads didn't have the white vw paint stamp on the back.Found they worked as good if not better than the originals.

You need to watch the one time use bolts supplied with some pads, they are not as good as the VW originals. VW do sell just the bolts, see here on a mk4 golf:

The one-time bolts look remarkably like ordinary bolts with a thread-locking agent on them.
|
The 'one time' bolts are ordinary bolts with micro-encapsulated thread-locking compound. I generally put a spot of Loctite on them and re-use them. DOn't overdo it though, or you won't get them off next time.
Rear disc corrosion is a problem on a lot of cars - its because they do so little work. Best solution is clean them up with a bit of emery cloth and then some hard braking.
