Anything to look out for? Local Renault Dealer has a new delivery miles scenic 1.6 expression auto with metallic paint and some other goodies including panormaic sunroof asking £12700. 2 Year Warrany seems to be only catch. Is this good or can I do better?
Also wondering about car supermarkets - any catched with those?

If its from a Renault dealer I doubt it will be an import?
|
it is an import - the dealer has imported them and registered them. theyre from cyprus. seems like a pretty good deal apart from one years less warranty. anything else to look out for?
|
Well, you may not have a 'local Renault dealer' is Renault UK find out about this. I can't imagine they'd be pleased....

Eh !!
From personal experience, there is nothing wrong with imports, especially now pan-European car specs are pretty much standard. I bought a new Saab which was imported via a broker, and apart from the 1 years less warranty there was absolutely no issues with the car at all. Provided you check that that all import taxes have been paid by the vendor/broker and the psec of the car is exactly as it should be I can't see any other pitfalls.
Some dealers like to play the 'awkward boy' when they find out your car was not UK sourced, but they have no legal grounds for this. Personally I think imports are a good thing, as they have served to force the car makers equalise their pricing Europe-wide in order to stop imports, but this has had the side-effect of bringing new car prices down in the UK in the last few years.
We dont owe car dealers a living despite what they think.

Given the apparent reliability and customer service issues surrounding Renault ( do a web search for Renault problems and check out another well known car forum) I wouldn't buy a Renault, import or not!
