Subaru Legacy @ Motorpoint for £12.000 - Falkirk Bairn
£12,000 for a new Legacy 2.0 RE @ Motorpoint seems a good buy.

However these are imported via Malta/Cyprus

Are any BR aware of differences in spec etc that takes the edge off a £4,000 saving?

I was told that you have to have the car serviced more often and that the cars are not undersealed (no snow & ice in Malta!)
Subaru Legacy @ Motorpoint for £12.000 - Wilco {P}
Cracking deal. Aprillia mentioned this a while back.

Servicing schedule should be the same.

Not sure about the underseal. But shouldn't be hard to fix if the case?

Check the warranty that Motorpoint offer carefully.

Loads of discussion about the warranty situation (in relation to Impreza's) pver at ScoobyNet.

Be aware that the new 2.0 engine isn't the torquiest around so you need to rev it, which may negate the improved economy.

Resale will be dismal but huge amount of car for the money and will make you smile every time you drive it!

I can't imagine that there are any significant savings in the factory by not putting on underseal. The cost at factory prices would be about £5.00.

In fact, the reverse might be true, as putting a very small no. through the line without underseal might mean the whole line has to be stopped and re-started.

Salty sea air too...

My guess is that is would be essentially the same car that you would buy in the UK. Possibly small differences in audio spec. Cyprus/Malta must be an absolutely tiny market for Subaru and I reckon they would just supply EU-spec RHD cars (i.e. 'UK spec' cars). I can't imagine why the servicing schedule should be any different. Chack out the Subaru websites in Cyprus/Malta - there will be spec sheet on it, and compare with Sub UK website data.

If i was looking out for a new saloon at the moment these would be very high on my list. A friend has one and it looks and drives fantastic.

12k almost seems too good to be true though...

This has been superceded by a new announcement by Subaru UK ( INT Motors) that they will honour properly stamped warranties - failure to honour a Valid EU Country Purchase / Warranty would have had Subaru UK in the EU Court as they could be deemed by trying to limit Customer Choice of buying in any EU country.

VW were fined £50m / £60M a few years back by limiting German Buyers chances of buying a VWs in Italy and taking advantage of lower prices in Italy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think either Malta or Cyprus are in the EU (although I'm sure they will be supplied with EU-spec and type-approved cars). Presumably Subaru UK could turn around and refuse to honour warranty?

I think attendance at GSCE Modern Studies class is required!
Only joking but as you can see the EU has grown markedly.

Yes, its coming back to me now. Didn't they join last year or the year before? I'm getting on a bit in years now, its becoming more difficult to 'keep up'.

Ok, I've only had mine for 5 days and 350 miles, but I'm telling everyone I know how good mine is (got to keep those re-sale values up.....)

What model did you get - only saloon advertised - I want and estate?

2.5Se estate, but from a Subaru dealer not Motorpoint
Subaru Legacy @ Motorpoint for £12.000 - Harmattan
This a good price in the UK for a good car but just serves to highlight how much Subaru UK feels the UK market can bear. Before Christmas I was being offered fob Yokahama a Euro III spec 2.0i Legacy Estate for £8730, £7666 for a 2.0 Impreza and £10,632 for a 2.5 Outback. The agent is obviously taking a margin but even factoring in shipping costs and VAT/duty, there is still something to be gained well below UK list prices. Of course, Subaru in the UK/Europe will not want to know you in terms of warranty but these cars were being offered through dealers with 3 year warranties so they must have good reliability.
