I've stopped my car and left it for about 20 mins. When i tried to start it again it turns over but not firing. I had a look to see if cam belt snapped, but is ok. Checked fuses under the bonnet - ok. it is a 2 litre hdi X plate. tried to tow it off around the block, but nothing at all happend.
any ideas of the problem? I would appreciate, cheers.

Glow plugs perhaps? Is the glowplug light (Amber with a symbol like a coiled spring) coming on briefly when you turn on the ignition?

Get someone to crank it while you hold the fuel-filter housing. It should swell noticeably under pressure as the electric tank pump primes the system.
If it doesn't, check the inertia switch; the main system relay and the in-tank pump.
As a last resort take it to a diesel specialist; these are complex, sophisticated systems, unsuited to repair by the uninitiated.
