BBR-GTi 01280 700800 seem to be well established as do Superchips (sorry don't have the number to hand) can no doubt help. Can't recommend either as I haven't used them.
If you do chip the car you won't forget to tell your insurance company will you?
Regards

'Chipping' is the generic term for re-programming a car engine's electronic management system for increased performance, different performance characteristics, better fuel economy, or to run on a lower grade of fuel. This can be done internally, by dismantling the engine ECU and either replacing or re-programming the chips inside, or externally, by altering the signals from the ECU to the fuel injection system and ignition igniter. Both petrol and turbo-diesel engines can be 'chipped'. Prices start at £100, but are more usually in the £300 to £400 bracket. Practitioners include BBR of Brackley (petrol and diesel Starchips): tel: 01280 700800 (website: www.bbr.gti.demon.co.uk); Superchips of Buckingham (petrol and diesel), tel: 01280 816781 (website: www.superchips.co.uk); Milford Microsystems of Kidlington (system developments), tel: 01865 331552; AMD, Oxon, tel: 01865 331226; Tim Styles Racing, Somerset, tel: 01278 453036; Siegerland (UK), tel: 0191 4286226 (website: www.tuningbox.com), Prima Racing, tel 0115 949 1903; Van Aaken Developments of Crowthorne, tel: 01344 777553 (website: www.vanaaken.com); Jetex of Stratford-upon-Avon, tel: 01789 298989 (website: www.jetexlimited.freeserve.co.uk); Webcon of Sunbury (Diesel Torqmaster), tel: 01932 788630 (Website: www.webcon.co.uk); Darley Specialist Services (Diesel Powerchip), tel 01332 553143.
Please note
If you alter the specification of your car in any way you must inform your insurer or your insurance could be void.
ATP's Network 500 offers a nationwide ECU testing service, tel: 01543 467466. But remember, apparent ECU faults are often simply due to a poor contact in the multipin plug.

virgil - many thanks for your very informative comments - generally have you any idea what the most basic upgrade for the current output 125bhp will produce with the most basic modification - or perhaps any modification will require the most standard of upgrades as a commonstart before enhancements can be added.
