Have just bought a 1997 Micra with CVT (77k miles). I am thinking of having the CVT fluid changed, (last changed in 2001). Does anyone know a cheap and reliable garage in Glasgow? Anyone has any experience with this type of car/what else to change etc? Is the oil change interval every 12 months? Thanks in advance.

You need a specialist auto-transmission repairer to service the CVT (there are pitfalls!).
Try:
John Mackie Automatic Transmissions 95 Causewayside Street Tollcross Glasgow, G32 8LT Tel: 0141 778 4545
I last met John Mackie about 10 years ago (through FATE) and he certainly seemed to know the business at that time.

Thanks Aprilia but John Mackie is very expensive. Wanted £99 for fluid and filter. I wonder whether the Nissan dealer would be cheaper.

You could try the dealer of course.
Its about an hour to drop the pan and replace the strainer. Then there is the cost of pan gasket and strainer, plus the oil itself. I suspect the main dealer wouldn't be any cheaper.

Arnold Clark Nissan, Mount Vernon branch gave me a qoute of £58, while Royston Road branch wanted £84. Why the discrepancy, I wonder?

£58 is very cheap for this job.
What is required is:
About a gallon of Dexron ATF
A new strainer
A new pan gasket
About 40-50minutes to remove the oil pan, clean it out. Clean gasket off mating face. Remove strainer. Then install new parts and refill with the ATF. Run engine 'till hot and check level.
If they can do that for £58 then that's cheap!
