Last week I accidentally bumped over a raised kerb in my 2002 Ford Focus, Bodywork on underside behind n/side wheel scraped on top of kerbstone. I checked and found seam in front of jacking point was slightly bent, but thought I'd got away with it until I drove home in a rain storm last night and a big puddle formed in passenger footwell. Does this sound like a coincedence - or serious (expensive) damage to floorpan?

It's possible that this has nothing to do with your mishap.
Common problem on Focus is the pollen filter housing leaking, allowing water into the front passenger footwell as you describe. Have you had the car serviced recently?
Do a search on the forum at www.ffoc.co.uk and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Coincidence I think.
I'm almost certain Peter's right.

I have had two Focii ( a 99 and an 02) and both have leaked in exactly that place.
Seems to be a design flaw for this model. Fords 'fix' doesn't seem to work very well, and has to be redone every time you change the pollen filter.

I had a look at the seal on pollen filter housing and it has perished quite badly. Also housing has a big crack down it - perhaps from a previous encounter with a ham-fisted mechanic.
Thanks for your help - I had nightmare visions of some big repair bills coming my way...

Thanks for reporting back.
I think I have the same problem with my Mondeo since it was serviced.
My footwell is not consistntly wet. I am wondering if water collect somewhere and is then spilled when the car is in motion.
Left in the drive during the worst rains we have ever had, the footwell was dry.

What year Mondeo is it Henry?
The earlier ones (93-2000) had a problem with the seal around the air intake under the passenger side scuttle panel, remove the cover (three srews with covers above the bonnet and three T30 torx screws under the bonnet) once off you'll see the intake. Remove clean up and refit using a silicone type sealer to get a good joint.
