I've recently bought this car and as i still havent managed to pass my test yet :-( the car is off the road alot unless i have someone to come out with me.
The problem is that recently the battery went flat, i recharged the battery BUT eversince i refitted the battery i am unable to turn the alarm/immobiliser off the car, so whenever i A) get in the car the alarm goes off and B) if i try to turn the engine over the immobiliser kicks in and HEY PRESTO! no engine and the alarm goes off. I have replaced the battery in the handset, done all the things the manual says to do afetr a recharged battery has been fitted and i am now at the end of my tether, the car is sat there, i cant use it, and i cant turn the damn immobiliser/alarm off. Can anyone help????

This has been covered before. The immobiliser may need resetting. The method is turning the key in the driver's lock so many turns to the right and then left. Or something like that. Do a Forum Search.

Thanks for that, but i've given that a go too, it doesnt work because to unlock the drivers door on my car you have to lift the handle as you unlock the door!!!! Also unsure as to whether the number in the manual is the correct sequence!!

I had one of these cars; you have to use the handle to open the door but you can turn the key whichever way the instructions say without touching the handle SFAIK. If the code you have in the manual is wrong then you do have a bit of a problem, I agree.
