I have had a very bad experience with a Citroen C5 I bought from new:
* Rear Brakes squeal admitted by Citroen but refuse to deal with it, as ?it does not affect braking performance?. Ask my neighbours, check my eardrums!
* Incompatible roof rack equipment supplied.
* Poor recording of service details that potentially affect guarantee.
I would like to know how many other Citroen users have been treated in an arrogant, high handed, and potentially negligent way.
I have constructed a Website to co-ordinate responses in order to bring public awareness to this situation of poor service.
Citron senior management need to know how their customers feel ? not just the stymied view filtered to them by their ?Customer Service? Department.

The above message was posted on Thursday, and subsequently hidden by myself shortly afterwards until I could clear up a few issues with Terry by email. Those issues have now been sorted (namely removing his website details so as to satisfy the T's & C's of the HJ site) so it only seems fair to move his post back up the list again so that people who may not have seen it earlier can now do so.
It goes without saying that any replies to Terry's message here should also not fall foul of any BackRoom policies that we have in place.
TIA

This is typical of Citroen main dealers. I have found the only policy that ever works is to push the matter as far as one can. Contact Citroen UK about it and see what response you get. It worked for me regarding the rear axle beam problem, after our local main dealer said that Citroen would not approve a replacement.
With regard to the squealing brakes, we had this problem on our C5's front brakes. The problem was cured when the brake pads were replaced.

A neighbour solved the brake squeal problem by applying Coppaslip compound to the back of the pads (not the contact surface! The surface borne on by the braking piston)

Oops. In the editing process, I removed Terry's comment that he's already approached Citroen UK at Slough with no sucess.

It is a disgraceful attitude to suggest that one should put up with brakes making such a racket. I have suffered the same problem with the Xantia, on two occasions, when pads were replaced. I think it was sorted out with the copper compound on one occasion but the other required new pads. On neither occasion did the garage quibble about putting it right.

I really like the C5 but mine was an early model which had so many faults and so litle reliability that it had to go for the sake of my mental health.
Mine suffered with noisy brakes which persisted even after a change of pads. A cure was eventually found when the dealer drilled holes through the pads to let the brake dust escape more easily from the surface of the disc.
|
The launch of the C5 was very badly handled and I am not surprised that the people who bought the early ones, eventually got fed up with them. The first owner of our C5 was such a person.
Citroen really don't deserve to sell their cars, with dealers and Citroen UK doing their best to alienate their customers. I said as much to my local dealer when I was going through the process of getting the rear axle beam sorted out.
