Can anyone give any advice with regard to chipping a Ford Focus 1.8 tdci 115ps engine.My main concerns are possible detriment to the engine and what chipping units are most suitable for this particular engine.

There are two schools of thought. One group of people say that chipping is unlikely is a win win situation. The other takign the opposite view.
Remappning as opposed to 'chipping' is supposed to deliver superior results, since the remap is vehicle specific.
