10 weeks old, only 1335 miles on the clock, smelt garlic/onion smell followed by dense white smoke emiting from the bonnet - dealer has no idea what has caused, need for new clutch etc, etc, to be fitted. Has any one experienced same?
What redress (if any) has any one ever had for clutch needing to be changed so quickly?

You should get a loaner car as good as or better than your card while it is fixed...
Sometimes new things just break (hidden flaws in a forging for example) that is what the warenty is for... but if it comes back to haunt you of looks like a Monday car with lots of other faults... well that is is what the goods sold law is for...

The thing is, has anyone else had problems with the clutch on a manual X-Type. Clutch problems and short clutch life are common on four wheel drive Subarus.
