I had an earlier post about oil levels and smoke in this car...
I have changed the oil and fuel filters and also replaced the oil.
Now my car wont start. I think it is an airlock. I have filled the fuel filter with diesel prior to fitting. The engine ran for a short while then started to labour before cutting out and now it wont start.
does this sound like an airlock and if so, how do i bleed it?

fill the oil until you see it on the dipstick for a start - is the car just turning over or is there some sign of life - maybe starts for a second or so

Hi,
there is approx 3.5-4L in the car now... The oil is starting to show on the stick.
The car turns with brief moments of life but nothing sustained.
It did run but assume after the fuel i primed the filter with ran out and now nothing starts.
I reckon, after a good charged battery it may pull fuel through again. If not, could running the car by a tow rope in gear be enough to turn the pump enough to get life?

Hi, may not be a good idea to try and start it with a tow. A mate of mine tried this and ruined his pump. It was running dry. I don't know much about your model, but I would try bleeding it using a primer if it has one. Slacken the fuel union at the pump and use the primer to draw fuel through. Maybe do the same with the injector unions.

I have had a few diesel's, latest is an AX 1.5d. You have air in your fuel system, and it needs to be bled free of air. I have had this several times and every time I have cleared the air from the system simply by continually churning the engine over on the starter, throttle to the floor,it does take some time and you need a good battery. When it does eventually start it fires intermitantly, just continue churning continuously. It will stop fireing, just continue churning.Do not stop turning the engine over until it runs continually. I know it takes forever, but all my diesels have 'self bled' this way.
