The check control computer on my friends car is giving the message; 'brake light circuit', ' consult owner's manual'.  The owner's manual is advising that we take the car into a BM garage.  The brake lights appear to be working fine.  Mystery! does any body know of a specilist BMW garage in South London or Surrey. Thanks

Don't know about BM's specifically but similar problems on here have often been to do with the earthing of a cable. Someone will be along with a bit more help no doubt.

Have a look closely at the brake bulbs, one or more appear black or discoloured, this would bring up this fault.

Yes - take the brake bulbs out and check them. Clean the terminal thoroughly before replacing them. It is often a little bit of corrosion of the terminals that causes this.
