Hi,
As a regular reader of HJ's column in the ST I know how important it is to get timing belts replaced. Well SWMBO's 51 reg Fiesta 1.2 Zetec is coming up for its 50k service and according to the schedule this is the time for the belt to be chaged. Should I make sure the tensioner or anything else be changed at the same time?
Thanks for your advice.

Are you sure the interval is 50,000? I thought Zetec's had the 100,000 mile interval.
P.S. - This is going to get moved later on to "Technical Matters" jsut in case you can't find it again!

I thought all Zetecs of that era were 80,000 mile intervals. I would just double check that this really is the change interval, I've never heard of it before but I suppose I could be wrong.

P reg 1.2 Zetecs from 1996 had a change interval of 100k/10yrs!
I am thinking (dangerous thought!) of changing mine shortly, any advice?

Hello.
The belt change interval for the 1999-2002 fiesta is 100k or 10 years.
The Previous zetec was 50k

100,000/10 yrs is correct.
I did question this with the rep from Gates (A belt manufacturer.) and they said that the reason is so high/long, is because they designed it! So if they cant get it right, then who can?
