Volvo S60 - spinner
I'm thinking of getting an S60, as the S/H prices look reasonable, any advice would be welcome:
What model (Engine/S/SE) to go for, are they reliable, etc.

Spinner.. there's some interesting points in this link you may like to read. www.honestjohn.co.uk/index.php?url=/carbycar/index...m
Volvo S60 - SjB {P}
Also, if you search the discussion forum (take a look in the right hand pane on this window) for 'S60' you'll find a lot of info. If you add 'SjB' to the search as the author parameter, you'll save me having to repeat all the detail of things that I've said before! Others of course have made many valuable points too, but I'm simply saving personal effort in this thread.

Summary though: Great car. Most beautiful saloon on the market IMO, especially in Maya Gold. Great engines. Restricted rear headroom. Amputees only in the rear (exaggeration, but it's not great). Tiny boot aperture. Purchased a V70 2.4T (since seriously chipped) instead. Delighted with it (thankfully!), and then some. :-))

Hi Spinner,

I did a lot of research on this and have a new S60 on order.

Most common and desirable seems to be the SE as it is dripping with goodies, but the S is also incredibly well specified (Climate Control or Aircon at least, CD Player, Alloys etc). The SE gets Leather, dimming rear view mirror etc.

Much depends on your budget, not just for the car but the insurance as well.

The D5 diesel is a corker but all the petrols swift as well (base 2.0T has 180hp!).

I have seen a few on Ebay recently going for sensible money and www.volvocars.co.uk has a good link for used cars that will enable you to track down a dealer sourced one or at leas let you see what you get for the money. It is suprising how the prices vary from one dealer to another.

Have fun and let us know how you get on!
