Cambelts on VW Polo's - Rob
Just bought a K93 Polo 1.0 l 3Dr, at what mileage do you need to change the cam belt, The car came with full dealer service history its done 93K miles last service being around the 70 mark.
Appreciate any views.

Change it immediately, then every 4 yrs/40k. Astonishingly, VW don't recommend a cambelt change on old polos at all. Change the water pump too - HJ says they can seize at this age, and my experience is that the soft alloy drive teeth will be quite worn at around this mileage . If you can DIY then the parts will be about £20 from German and Swedish.

If the last service was 23,000 miles ago you'd be advised to give it a thorough service yourself! (engine oil and filter, brake fluid, air filter, maybe fuel filter, maybe distributor cap and rotor and ignition leads etc....)

A fine car. Mine (older model) is on its third odometer (they pack up) and is on around 160k.

PS This looks a bit like I'm answering my own posts!

Definitely right away, for peace of mind, then every 40k max.
Looked after well, it should last ages. We have a 1.4, just keeps on going!
