My 130bhp pdi Passat seems to have developed pronounced turbo lag when the engine is cold. So much so that moving off quickly from a junction has become quite fraught these cold mornings; I can't remember noticing it in previous winters. The car's fine after about 1 mile. Needless to say it's now out of warranty. I'd be grateful for any comments.

Have you tried an oil change? Turbos use engine oil for lubrication, and old, cold, viscous engine oil will presumably slow the turbine down.

Oil viscosity will make little noticable difference to turbine response because the oil is pumped through the bearings. Most likely an EGR issue.

Just had an oil change. I'd welcome any more info on the EGR system. Thanks
