Good news. Honda are to bring out a version of the Civic which runs on natural gas from the mains, very clean burning etc. The sale includes a compressor to raise the pressure from the gas main to that required for the car to use, and to store enough. Plug it into the cooker point when you get home, DON'T forget to unplug next morning!
Bad news. We're not getting it in the UK.

Those living in a tower block beware of the pipe dangling down the stairs.

I would think there would be a few problems with this arrangement. Firstly it would only work for those people who can park their car off the road, so that they can connect up overnight. Secondly many rural areas don't have mains gas. Thirdly I am not sure about the safety aspects of people plugging their car into the household gas. What would happen if something didn't connect properly and there was a leak?
Maybe best to stick to LPG...
Interesting though.

"What would happen if something didn't connect properly and there was a leak?"
and how long before someone drove off while still attached?

And have you ever tried cooking bacon and eggs over a pathetic candle type flame cos your car is sucking all the gas pressure?
|
So you don't need an engine or gearbox - the gas provides the thrust!
Does it have a VTO facility?
