Anyone had any bad experiences with Jamjar, or have found them expensive?

VERY long delivery times (sometimes about 4 months), and alot more expensive than the car supermarkets.
|
So why is it people buy from them! I just cannot undertsand why customers still pay over the odds for cars.
I visited their site in Doncaster wow its a mass of vehicles. There advertising campaign has all of a sudden gone quiet is because they are running at such a huge loss?

I am someone who frequently comes "very close" to replacing my current car but never quite go the full way and as a result keep a big eye on the various car outlets etc.
2 years ago I was looking at Citroen Xsaras - Jamjar were supplying at about 2 grand less than Citroen dealers were and the deal looked incredible. Similar for dearer cars that I couldn't afford at the time as well (Mondeo/Vectras/VW etc).
The last time I looked at their site was 2 months ago and their offerings seem to promise savings of a few hundred now plus their "evaluation" of your part-ex is a joke.
I agree with you - I have no idea why anyone would buy from them currently!

But people are. Is it because the British consumer is so tuned into Television adverts they become somewhat brainwashed and forget that the motor industry is one of the most competitive markets around, especially on the Net? So why why why do people go to Jamjar. Is it because of that big red telephone that caused a storm in the insurance industry or what? Me I shopped my insurance around and found Direct line quote some £500 cheaper than the nearest competitor.
It would be great to obtain the financial accounts for Jamjar and see how much they must have lost in the first year. No doubt being linked to Direct Line they are just offsetting some on their Companies profits in order not to pay the tax out!
Anyway I have gone off Jam and will not be eating it again. What ever happened to the 'golliwogs'

i think its 'motorcity' that has new shape mondeo's for £7995, which sounds too good to be true.
but i was looking at the cheap cars at the car supermarket in cannock and thought that i might look at the smaller garages in cannock and the private ads, and as these people are competing with the supermarket, the prices seem to be incredible, i saw a new shape 1.8 mondeo in the autotrader for the cannock area going for £7695.
|
plus i was IN cannock, not just looking on the web. i bought a return ticket on the web from GNER for £20 return (i didnt really want to go anywhere, but at £20 i thought i might as well go SOMEWHERE)

Did Chris get the mileage on the new shape Mondeo for £7,695?

But did you see it, or was it the sales pitch? Motorpoint are advertising Y Mondeos for 8995 and showing a piccy of the new Mondeo. Go to the site and see what your money will get you, it won't be the one you think it is. Cheapest I've seen is 10995. Local Ford dealer is selling Y plated LX's for 11995.

it was parked outside someones house with a bit of paper in the back window, it WAS the new shape, and it said that the price was £7695 because the seller needed the money by the end of the week.

Regarding delivery delays, I encountered the same situation when considering ordering from Trade Sales of Slough. Quick delivery if in stock, but if you wanted *your* choice of colour etc, could be 12+ weeks to wait.
