Howdy all,
Ages and ages ago when I had the Fiesta, I had 1 remote key only. Ford said for another remote I would need another key, code it off that (all a bit of a blur) but the upshot was it would be over 100 quid.
I want another key for my Focus but it must be a remote. I have 1 remote and one 'normal' with a blue chip in. I have been told that if I have these two, then I can buy a remote key 'blank' and code it myself.
2 questions -
1. Is this true?
2. If so, where can I get a blank key from. Don't say Ebay! Can I get one from Ford?
Many thanks

Same as what was supplied with my old Mondeo. IIRC, the manual did give instructions for programming additional keys. I would imagine these new keys are only available from Ford main dealers - no idea how much they would cost though

1.yes
2. Ford main dealer told me £45 last week. Not sure if plus VAT

I think Henry's £45 includes cutting the key - based on what my local Ford dealer told me some time ago (but I can't remember if this included vat either).
Typically selling new on ebay for around £35 excluding cutting, including vat and p&p - hardly worth the saving.

got mine done a few months ago at the local ford dealers.new remote, blank key and cutting came to about £45. inc vat.
took them home fitted key into remote, read through owners manual on coding remote, went to car and all done in a minute or so.
as for ebay, same thoughts as others, why pay nearly the same for a second hand unit.
