This Spring I'll becoming to London to begin 6 months of travel. Any suggestions on where to buy a camper van in London for touring Britain and the Continent? Reliability is an important consideration (don't want to be hanging around garages). Price, as always, also important. Hints for re-selling it when return to London? TIA

There used to be a street market somewhere in Caledonian Road where campers were traded, maybe every Sunday but more likely something like the first weekend of the month. I dunno if still goes on, it's a bit of an inside knowledge thing so probably quite difficult to find out. Also look in Loot (freeads paper) which is on the net aswell. probably loot.co.uk
Re-sell at Caledonian Rd of course.
I will see if I can find more on Caledonian Rd

When I used to work in that part of London 15 years ago, there was a market near Old Street -- can't remember which day, but probly weekends. Kinda North and West of Old St roundabout -- lots of sandaled Aussies selling their brightly-painted VW campers.
Long time ago, so may long since have moved

Check out the bottom of this page "May 18th" see I was right. Looks like this couple went there on a Saturday as the bike was stolen on the night of Fri/Sat.
Market Rd - Caledonian Rd tube Station. There might also be a dealer in the vicinity which is why they all go there.

There is a bloke just across from me at work who has nothing but camper vans for sale - think that he has 30/40 at anyone time. I will get his tel no and post when I next go out for a smoke. BTW I work in Fulham, in between Wandsworth Bridge Road and Kings Road.

Right, here are the details:
Quality Campers tel 020 7610 9807 mob 07973 888357. Open Mon-Sat 10.30-5
Don't know what they are like as never bought a camper, but the security guard at work says that they are the biggest in the country and one of the best. I would add that I am not sure how he knows this as he has never bought a camper!! There are also a lot of LHD models which I think appeal to people for going on the continet.

Sue - just talked to the owner of Quality Campers and he said that he also operates a guaranteed buy back scheme within a year of purchase. I think that he said that it was usually about 65-70%

Tommy Cooper:
I went to Millets and said 'I want to buy a tent.'
He said 'To camp?'
I said (butchly) 'Sorry, I want to buy a tent.'
I said 'I also want to buy a caravan.'
He said 'Camper?'
I said (campily) 'Make your mind up.'
I'll get my coat.

For example Australian Times.
You will see then in heaps all over central London.
All have free add sections with campers for sale.
