Looking for a Mercedes A-Class - Blue {P}
Hi all, my gran is considering buying a new or nearly new Mercedes A-Class automatic.

I know that I sell cars, but to be honest, the firm I work for doesn't really have anything suitable, so I'm looking around to try and find one in a Merc main dealer.

Has anyone got any advice about where the best source of an A140, or possibly an A160 might be?

We've tried the local main dealers and met the usual unpleasant salesman who really didn't seem to care about what we were after or helping us find it.

Any general advice appreciated.

There was a discussion a while back about merits of Merc v Honda Jazz - worth a look.

If you really want one, then eBay, where else.

tinyurl.com/246ud is an ex-Easy rentacar one. It might even be the one I rented. I found it thirsty, uncomfortable, and the little wheels struggled at over 60mph. Not a car to drive.

It's a lot of money for a 5 year old tin can with poor ride quality!

Thanks, the Honda Jazz was another car that we had considered (it's not like I don't know a lot about them!) but my gran likes the look of the Merc the most.

She isn't looking at an older vehicle though, it would have to be about a year old at most, and certainly not an ex-rental! :-)

In which case it's even more money for a tin can!

Not a Merc model that's one to go hunting for, whatever the reason.

Mercedes Direct usually have loads of them. Be aware that a very large number of 1 year old A-Class at both MB Direct and MB Dealers will be ex easyRentacar models.

Dealers are quite keen to deal on new ones at the moment as they're trying to shift them ahead of the new model so if you really must have an A-Class and don't want an ex rental car that might be the way to go.

Ben, I don't use ebay myself so this may be a silly question but why is seller shown as Clarence Jason?

If you look at my thread on 'Changing volvo for A-class' a week or so ago, you will see lots of people don't like them.

However, why don;t you hire one for the day from Easycar and see if your gran likes it. They usually have autos as well. How about Audi A2?

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?

This dealer group was advertising has 04 model 140s for £10995

Jazz likely to be MUCH more reliable though....

I had a 140 and 160 autos from Easycar. The 160 wasn't too bad actually, but the 140 was slug........

Assuming that being an automatic is an essential requirement, there are no automatics in the A2 range except for imported, LHD 1.2TDIs.

You could try talking your gran into buying your Fiesta. Kill 2 birds with one stone.

Yes, that is one of the options on the cards :-)
