Hi
I have a Mk4 Ford Fiesta Flight 16V registered in 1997/1998. I have recently started to hear what can be described as a clicking noise coming from the offside front wheel after I apply the footbrake. This always occurs, irrespective of how quickly I apply the footbrake. The braking is not affected in any way - it remains very good.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
TIA
Moby.

Is it definitely only doing it when you brake? I only ask because on mine a few months ago there was a clicking coming from the offside front wheel every time it rotated so the quicker I went, the quicker the clicking went. Anyway, took the wheel off and there was a slight part on the disc which was catching when it went throught the brake assembly (I'm sure there's a more technical term). Anyway, soon sanded itself down after a few days braking.
Hope this helps, if nothing else but to elimiate the problem..
cheers

Hi Adam - Thanks for your reply.
The clicking noise only occurs when I brake, not continually as your problem.
Many thanks,
Moby.

Have you checked your wheel nuts for tightness? Could be loose.
Have you visually inspected the tyre tread for nails and stones?
Have you checked the pad thickness?

This might sound stupid but you are sure its not the noise of the relay clicking that operates the brake lights, because that is located under the dash to the area of front right of the drivers seat.

It sounds a little more mechanical than a simple relay, and when I open the window the noise appears to emanate from outside. I do have spare relays so I may do a simple swap to elimate this. Thanks for the reply Simon.

I haven't checked the wheel nuts... will check that.
The tyres are brand new and there are no nails/stones.
Pads were brand new with the tyres.
--> I'll check the tightness of the nuts tonight.
Thanks madf.
