I have a 406 HDI 90. Today a warning light appeared which I have not seen before. I appears to look like the outline of an engine and is to the right of the ignition (battery) light. Unfortunately the Haynes manual does not help. It is due for an oil change but I have never seen this light before previous services.
Your help would be very much appreciated before I contact a Peogeot dealer

Lifted directly from my handbook....
"Engine auto-diagnostics warning light.
It comes on each time the ignition is switched on.
If it comes on with the engine running it indicates a malfunction in the injection, ignition or emission control system. If your vehicle is fitted with a catalytic converter, there is risk of damage to it.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer rapidly."

Ah, the famous "Check Engine" light eh?
It could be on for many reasons, of which I won't go into here.
Has it gone off now or is it on permanently?

Thanks for the input guys.
The light stays on permanently.
Looks like I am going to have to take it to the local dealer for diagnostics check - no doubt that will be quite expensive.

Find a Peugeot specialist (or indeed any clued up workshop) with generic diagnostic kit.
We've got it and can diagnose and repair the HDi systems.
