I've decided it's time to get rid of my petrol Mondeo in favour of probably a Focus diesel.
The question is what should I expect privately for the Mondeo?
Sept 2000 'X' 1.8 Zetec 5dr, 53000 miles, FullFordSH, A/C, Atlantic Blue metallic and in good condition for its age/miles.
I'm the 3rd owner, having bought the car in July 2003.
MOT is due July but I will be putting 12 months on before sale.
Taxed until Feb 05.
Car has also recently been serviced and fitted with new front brake disks and pads.
Parkers suggests £5090 for 'Private Good' at 40000 miles so I'm guessing around the £4650 ono mark taking the miles into account, with room to drop a couple of hundred.
I've seen similar cars in dealers for £6000 recently which makes me think I'm being more than fair.
Does that sound about right or am I being a bit ambitious?

Thanks HJ, yes it's an old shape, and no that's not what I wanted to hear!
Parkers is quite misleading in that case because I made sure it was the 1996-2000 model I chose to value.
The 2000> model comes out at £6465 'Private Good'.
Looking through the Auto Trader there is an abundance of similar 1.8 Zetecs, I can't understand how dealers can mark them up to as much as £6000, even with a generous discount for cash they're still way overpriced.
Looks like I may have to re-evaluate what I can afford before I decide to advertise.
