Have just bought myself a Mondeo TDCI 130LX Estate (53 plate).

I pick it up on Friday.

When i had the old shape Mondeo, I found out long after puchasing it that I should have had a Red master key.

Should I be looking for something similar with this car.

You should have two keys, one remote fob and one normal key with a blue insert in it.
You need two or more keys to be able to program any extra keys yourself.

Furthermore when you read the manual in the part about programming extra keys the diagrams always appear to show the key with a blue insert as the "master" key.

Obviously apart from checking that both keys fit all locks, you need to check that both keys will actually start the car.

Good choice of car, I would say that.

(Except my version is subject of the car cloned? thread) :(

An excellent choice of car...but then I'm biased!

It is always good when poeple back up your chioce.
Having never driven a diesel car before, I was truly amazed by the power this car offers at 2-3000 revs. I was also plesanty suprised by the amount of standard kit supplied being the LX model.

I'm toying with opting out of the company scheme, or staying and having a Mondeo estate. Ford are lending me a 130TDCI to try for the weekend after Easter.

I'm seriously tempted by the 'Zetec Nav' - this is a Zetec with the DVD navigation for £375 over the price of a Zetec.

Do any of you guys have the Ford navigation system? I notice that the screen is set quite low. Does it have voice commands as well? How do you find the system?

If I recall the Sat Nav is not of the "full map" variety, and just tells you to turn left/right etc, these type are usually a pig to programe as well. Probably worth the extra 375, but dont expect too much.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. Ford don't list a basic nav system in the brochure, so I rang the dealer to clarify and you are right. Not the bargain it first seemed.
