Wonder if anyone can comment on where I stand with regards some problems with a New Megane.
I purchased it in September and it initially had a number of paintwork defects which I allowed (rightly or wrongly) to be fixed. Ended up with 2 weeks in the bodyshop.
Some of these defects were almost certainly as a result from badly repaired bodywork rectification at the import centre - cause unknown.
It then developed a rattle in the drivers door which was traced to the locking mechanism and 'cured'
Then the ventilation fan was replaced as it was oscillating and making a terrible noise.
Now I have found the door rattle has returned and the dealer has had to order a new locking mechanism.
At the same time I reported a rattle over bumps which I thought was the undertray coming loose.
It turns out that it was, according to the worksheet:
OSF coil spring to be misaligned. Removed shocker and fitted coil spring correctly.
I am becoming more and more concerned about this car and its faults, especially with the latest suspension problem. Could this have caused any more less obvious but more permanent damage to the car?
Equally could it have originally been caused by whatever happened to the car that made the paint rectification necessary?
If so any idea if anything else may 'turn up'?
I guess now that I do not really have a legal case to reject the car but would like to know my position should these problems continue or new one appear.
Thanks
Andrew

They are all the sort of little niggles that Renault are renowned for. I don't think there is much you can do - well past the time for demanding a replacement car. Just don't buy Renault again.

having driven renualts i would say a certain amount of "silly "faults is usual, but it sounds to me like your car has had a journey off the road at some point!! its so hard to tell these days though, i would sell it and buy a golf!!!

Sounds like it may have been damaged and badly repaired prior to being sold to you. Don't know where you stand legally if this turns out to be the case - anyone comment on this, and whether or not it is worth paying for an independent inspection to establish if damage has been sustained and repaired? I suppose you could also try "What Car" Magazine's free service if your complaints do not get resolved by the dealer.
