Hi Folks, i was wondering can help me.
I have a 1998 406, and the digital mileage clock has stopped lighting recently.
On a fine day, i can see thats its still clocking up miles buts its not lighting anymore in the display.
Ive had a look at the fuses and everything elso seems to be working ok.
Is this a expensive job getting it fixed or is it simply a case of replacing a bulb.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The backlight illumination bulb has failed. It is not a difficult job to change, but requires removal of fascia surround(screws above instrument pod & clips around edge of panel)usually needs a good tug to release it from dash,& the air vents will probably fall apart. This reveals more screws that hold instrument pod in place .(the screws are usually torx drive type)I would recommend you change all illumination bulbs,(about 6 or 7 )because once you move the pod other bulbs will fail.

Yep...a common failing on 406's
Have a bulb handy before stripping the pod out...I think it is a special dealer-only bulb.
