Hi
I have been having real trouble with this from time to time.
At apparently random intervals the nearside rear brake will remain on with the handbrake lever in the car disengaged.
I have stripped and examined, replaced all springs etc and readjusted handbrake. But all to no avail - it keeps happening.
When it does I whip the wheel off and give the drum a tap with a persuader and it normally frees it up.
The drive to our house is on a slight incline - not sure if that has any influence.
Anyone with similar experience or advice on this one?

Take drums off and file an angle at each end of the brake shoes - taking care not to breathe in any dust. ie, chamfer them.

Thanks Dave
I will give that a shot.

If that doe`s not work try removing the brake shoe that has the handbrake cable connected. It has an arm connected to rear of shoe.it sometimes happens that the arm distorts or is slightly bent/slight rust stopping the arm from returning to it`s correct handbrake off position.a smear of coppergrease or similar should prevent it happening.but if you take it off will see for yourself.ie how free it is.Hope that helps
