Honda Accord 2006 - Is a perishing half-shaft damper an MOT failure? - Turkish_Emperor

I was under my vehicle recently and noticed that the driver side half-shaft damper is perishing.

The car drives well, I don't notice anything untoward with it's behaviour (I believe a sign would be vibration?)

Does anyone know if small splits of which there are a few (around 5-8mm in length) would be deemed an MOT fail?

No expert, but your description sounds to me like an advisory, not a fail. If the tester notices it while poking about underneath it might be seen as similar to a deteriorating rubber bush ?

Drive shafts are not a specific testable item , but if the mot man thinks it’s likely to cause an issue , then it would be classed as advisory. Don’t think it’s the case with your car .
