Hi all, this is the first time I've ever been in a position to need advice on motoring, as I am usually a very anxious driver who never does anything wrong.
Last week I was on the motorway inside lane while overtaking, and a motorbike came flying up, flashing lights to move over. I couldn't for ages as there was someone in the other lane, and I got really annoyed, swore at him after eventually moving over. I know I shouldn't have done that.... But the response I got was far worse and totally unjustified. He then proceeded to harass me and follow me for around 15 minutes in the dark, pouring rain, banging on my car, one minute on my left, then my right, then in front of me slamming on his brakes, trying to ram me off the road at the next junction. I panicked and thought I could try and lose him so I came off the motorway and tried to lose him around a roundabout. I tried to go down one exit, but he cut across white chevrons and cut in front of me each time. I tried them to get back onto the motorway and went on the inside lane to make him carry on ahead, he realized and again tried to cut in front of me on the right hand side. I realized too late and hit him on my driver's side door. He became even more aggressive, following me, waving, flashing banging on my car to get me to pull into the hard shoulder.
By this point I'd rung police, told them everything. I was so scared and upset. This man shouted that id broken his foot and his bike to police that were on my loudspeaker (he walked over to my car fine) and proceeded to scream at me. I put my foot down and got back onto the motorway quick, finally losing him.
I was so shook up I found a residential estate and sat there for an hour just crying.
I'm now freaking out that he's going to charge me for dangerous driving, and I'll get a court summons through, or something from my insurance to say he's claimed against me. Will it still stand if I have a police log stating I was being harassed?
