Car makers are starting to charge extra to unlock features that already exist in their cars but cannot be used without extra payments. Sounds like a challenge to hackers:

Now that someone has shown that this can be done it won't be long before others jump on the bandwagon with better exploits for other makes also. I can't say I have any sympathy for the cheapskates at the car companies who are trying to screw the last dollar out of their customers.

Any digital security liable to tampering and then it can be replicated easily.

This is a difference with physical security where breaking each lock requires same effort.

Hacks exist everywhere. One can bypass Telegraph paywall easily by some browser tweaks.

However, it really does not affect manufacturers as number of people who do that is very low.
