Hi
I'm looking to fit a basic CD player to my Yaris (currently just radio/cassette) for not too much money. I see that Halfords do them and include fitting, but should I be looking anywhere else (chain, or specialist in the Reading area)?
I think I want it fitting for me, or is it easy?
Cheers

I'm not familiar with the Yaris, but fitting depends on whether the existing unit is integrated into the dashboard or is a traditional slot-in DIN-E unit. If the latter, then it should be a doddle to swap. If the former, then you're probably going to have to go back to Toyota and have a multichanger fitted.

Thanks Andy. I thought it was an integrated unit, hence rang up the local Toyota who quoted me £270 for the CD (single disc) plus ~£40 for the fitting. But after recovering from the shock, I asked whether I had to use a special Toyota part, and he said not.

To answer my own question, I had a look at Argos who, along with Halfords, sell the Sony CDX-L480X:
Halfords: £119.99 + £35 fitting
Argos: £89.99 inc. fitting (via voucher)
Hmmm... tough one.

See here - toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=20&...& all you need is a wiring adaptor - you wont go wrong with that CD player, i've got it and its pretty decent, only prob is if I turn it up too loud with the bass up it will blow the 20A fuse in my 306, but I guesws thats a problem with the 306 wiring.

not sure if your interested in cd changer but i bought a brand new sony x-plod cdx 656 (radio/cd player with 10 disc changer) for £136 from a car audio place on e-bay +£10 p+p)..also needed a £10 lead from Halfords to connect the din plug to the nissan audio socket.
