Tesla Model 3 - Claims management companies - Wee Willie Winkie

My car was rear ended on Saturday (by a work colleague, but that's another story...).

She googled 'Admiral claims' to get the telephone number and reported the accident. I subsequently received a telephone call offering repairs and replacement car etc. All fine, I thought.

However; I get another call today from the same company, probing about personal injury and credit hire cars. Aha - I think. Why is a company instructed by the insurance company using credit hire? I do a bit of digging and find they're nothing to do with Admiral. Admiral weren't even aware of the claim when I rang them.

All sorted now though. My colleague has reported to the 'real' Admiral and they've contacted me to sort the preliminary details of repair and non credit hire car.

Moral of the story is don't rely on a telephone number from Google. Admiral told me they're having issues with these Google results and people unwittingly instructing claim management companies.

Yep, sounds familiar.

My neighbour did something similar to us when Swambo reversed into his ancient Fiesta. It took two years to get our records removed from their 'database'.

It takes a bit of practice. The first bit of a search result in Google and other engines can be misleading with ads that will take over. Scrolling down will show the genuine sites.

It can be worked around by using ChatGPT or other AI-driven chatbots.

For now...they will soon be full of ads as well to pay for them.

GF got scammed a 40US fee for a Turkish entry visa (which should be free) via a similar sounding interception.

I did warn her, having encountered and bypassed the dodgy (but not illegal) site when I got mine, but she doesn’t listen to me, since I’m a foreigner, and, despite rumors on here, a man.

As well as the rip off there was concern about the credit card being compromised, but that seems to have been OK.

Slightly surprised to see AI being suggested as a solution. I would have thought it was much more likely to be part of the problem, but I suppose the Internyet could become a Black/White AI battleground.
