Pick UpTruck Shortages - daveyK_UK
We have been trying to hire 2x 4x4 pick up trucks for the past week, absolutely nothing available!

It turnsout its due to -
European manufacturers making them in small pre-order batches due to the CO2 regulations with a strict limit on the amount available to order each year
Ford having a large recall on the Ranger rendering most of them out of use
Electric Ssangyong musso’s still not arrived in UK
Maxus T90EV 2023 orders still not arrived in UK

Maxus T90EV 2023 orders still not arrived in UK

Maxus dealer local to me in Peterhead has at least 4 of these on site.

(you can actually see them on Google street view, immediately south of the "McDonalds roundabout" on the A90, footage is from March this year)

Dealer has always had lots of 4x4 pickups (and vans) though, even before he became Maxus dealer.

This is the information given to me by Europacar, hertz, enterprise and enterprise flex e rent (they are 2 different companies despite the same name).

dealers/manufacturers make more money selling to retail rather than fleet (especially rental) - when supply is constrained who are they going to sell to?

There is shortage of most cars now.

Those who ordered Toyota RAV4 in 2022 Q1 are still waiting. Toyota has stopped taking new RAV4 orders as per their website. Lexus says if anyone places order for NX now they can expect delivery in Q2 2024.

Spoke with my nearest Kia dealer. The waiting iist Niro/Sportage is roughly 6 months but people are still waiting after 8-9 months depending on trims ordered.

1 year old models of those cars, when appearing in market in very small numbers, commanding 99% of list price.

It is a mad world now.
