Dealer Rear Window Ads - Basil Brush
Does anyone have advice on the best way to remove an dealership window sticker which seems to be super-glued on and made from some alien material so brittle that you can just about peel off 1mm at a time. I'm worried about damaging the rear window heating element?

It also almost fills the rear view window - toyota avensis hatchback!

Thanks,

Basis

try warming up with a hair dryer first

Yes, the hair drier works quite well but, I think the adhesive is susceptible to petrol, ie, lighter fuel. If you can make a few careful scores into the plastic film, a rag, moistened with lighter fuel will soften the adhesive. Don't smoke or use the hairdrier at the same time.

If these are left on they go brittle and weld themselves to the window.
Try acetone (cellulose thinners) or specialised "sticky stuff remover" that you can get from people like Betterware or Lakeland.
Watch the window heater wires, they are easy to break or rub off!

Could try something like WD40. I used similar petroleum extract which did what it said - removed sticky gum. Guess as a petroleum extract had good solvent properties.

Nitromoors (paint stripper).

Just be a bit careful when applying it - nasty stuff!
