2016 Ford Galaxy - Ford BMS Reset- Heated Screen not working. - Nezza
Recently we got a large stone chip in our windscreen and ended up getting the windscreen replaced. Following this we then had cold weather and discovered the heated screen no longer works. The car manual states that a low battery can cause this to not operate, so I charged the battery. Reading online this is a common thing to not work at the same time as the start stop system. The other half then informs me the stop start has also not worked for weeks! (Her car). So, charged battery, stop start seems to work again but still no heated screen.
Had the screen installers back who checked it over and proved continuity on the heating elements and that there was no power from the car. Once they had gone I checked the battery voltage and it had dropped to a reading of 12.2v after car only started a couple of times. Decided as it’s 6 years old it’s time for a new battery. Had a new battery fitted by a well known car parts superstore. (I would usually do this myself but not knowing how to reset the BMS I decided to let the people who know do it).
The screen still does not seem to be working. I can not be sure if the BMS has been reset or not but I have seen some videos online saying to turn on ignition then push rear for five times then hazards three times. This did not appear to work then I found another video for a mondeo saying to turn on the ignition then flash front lights five times and push the brake three times. I still got no flashing battery light to suggest it had reset.

Has anyone any ideas what the correct reset procedure is or what could be at fault with the screen before I end up going to the main dealers? Any help would be much appreciated as I expect the cold weather will return along with my ear ache from her using the scraper.

There’s no reset procedure for the hfs . I would have the charging system tested first. If this is below spec , then the screen won’t work . There are 2 fuses in the engine bay fuse box for this circuit, both rated at 40amps . The bms may need to be reset via diagnostic.

Thank you for your response elekie&a/c doctor, I have checked both fuses and all are ok. (What a beast to get to, lost some knuckle skin removing the top section of the fuse box to get to the lower one)

I will give it a couple of days and see if it re-learns the battery state (seen suggestions it does if the car is left a long period without being used) and if not it looks like a trip to the dealers.

Thanks again for your response.
