The early days of motor racing - badbusdriver

watch

Just watched this film I came across on YouTube. Just over 30 minutes, but well worth a look if you are interested in properly old cars.

An almost total lack of any sort of safety considerations and cars which were incredibly physical to drive. Usually run over very long distances compared to most modern motor racing, there is one point where the commentator mentions an unusually short 23 mile lap!. Tyres narrower than on some current bicycles, braking would be primitive at best, ineffectual, and quite possibly only on the rear wheels!.
