So if it's not due a service for another 2,000 miles what's the work they say they need to do to 'activate' the warranty about?
Did you miss an inspection or something due in the first few months?
You could try relying on your consumer rights; these are independent of any warranty and give you comeback if an item is not fit for purpose etc.

You could argue that charging cable for an electric car that fails after less than a year is not of reasonable quality/fit for purpose and demand a refund or repair. Best to do this in writing.
Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133 will be able to talk you through the process and advise how to find template letters etc.
NB. Those rights are against the dealer who supplied the car.
If it's on finance the lender may be liable too; they're often better at seeing wood for trees than desk staff at a dealer.
