One has to be careful if buying a pre-reg. The clock starts ticking at registration.

We bought a pre-reg last year, which was also a demo.. The service would have been due 3 months after purchase, so we said service it, but the salesman said we'll do it at 12 months for you. Put it in writing on the sales invoice. Or discount the 1st service cost.

By not having yours serviced until 12 months after you bought it the car was by then 21 months old and had missed a service by 9 months. By doing that you have lost the warranty, no chance of any claim from the manufacturer. They give 1 month, 1000 miles max and not all do that.

Keep you fingers crossed the car has no issues. Any money you saved would likely be lost.

Not clear in your post, you simply said

Could have been 12 months from sale or 12 months from registration, I assumed since you were buying the car it was 12 months from sale.

Almost without exception, had I booked an appointment 8 months ahead of time, I would have confirmed a couple of weeks before it was scheduled.

Although not the fault of the OP that the garage was not expecting him, it would have been easy to make sure things ran more smoothly with far less opportunity for error or cock up.
