What a stunning car!!

They should bring it into the UK in Hybrid form!! Unfortunately we bRits love our overpriced and unreliable JLR products!!

New Toyota Landcruiser launched after 13 years - Toyota - Xileno

I think I would rather take a gamble on JLR reliability...

The front looks hideous to me.

New Toyota Landcruiser launched after 13 years - Toyota - badbusdriver

Absolutely hideous!.

Though there is no way I'd have a JLR product over it, after all you can't see the outside when you are in it!.

Need to see in the flesh to form a proper opinion, agree not a work of beauty but then BMW products can be pretty ugly as well.

Oh dear.....I'm a massive Toyota fan..won't buy anything else...but OMG that is one ugly beast

...no doubt a very good vehicle however.

If there the usual Auto express artists impressions then I would ignore them & wait to see the production vehicle in real life.

It looks like Dacia Duster has had dalliance with a Discovery’s ugly sister.

New Toyota Landcruiser launched after 13 years - Toyota - chesterfieldhouse

Not the best looking vehicle in the world, but l quite like the square features.

To me it looks like a cross between a Discovery & a Jeep Patriot.

Not great looking but when your life depends on it when you are travelling in some of the worlds most remote and sometimes dangerous countries there is only one choice !

Ironically, both times I was the subject of an attempted hijack, I was driving our Subaru station wagon.

The most in demand car for hijackers at the time (mid-late 1990s) was the landrover discovery. Apparently it could get from Nairobi to Somalia on a tank of diesel. About 400 miles or so.

Just when you think Toyota are beginning to get somewhere with their styling thanks to the handsome new Yaris and Corolla, they go and turn out this ugly looking thing. They’ve never sold well here because they’re hugely overpriced compared to other markets and always has been even when you go back to the 80’s and the Land cruiser was always much dearer than a similar spec Shogun or Trooper. I think they’d be better aiming for volume than profit per unit.

I always liked the Isuzu Trooper and remember plenty around my locality. Most were the LWB used on the school run back before SUV’s were popular. I still see the odd SWB running around as a farm hack. Strange that Isuzu never replaced it and now only sell pick ups.

It wasn't designed for us nor apparently the USA as supposedly it isn't going to be sold here or there.

Toyota Group currently #7 in volume in Europe with 6.1% market share & climbing having overtaken Ford. Aiming for 7% market share this year which would have them overtake Daimler (6.4%) & close in on BMW & Hyundai/Kia (both on 7.3%).

In individual brand terms Toyota is #4 in Europe so far in 2021 which puts them above BMW as an individual brand & very close to Mercedes in #3. VW are miles ahead (almost 2x) of any other brand in Europe in volume terms though.

I haven't seen figures for European/UK profitability but on a global basis they have margins that most volume automotive brands (incl. VW) would kill for & they are #1 by volume as well.

I can't see why they would with a car like this - it's never going to be one of the bigger sellers and is a more niche vehicle so profit per unit it what they want.

Cars like the Aygo/Corolla are the volume cars.

It looks pretty good to me compared to my previous Landcruiser - a 1960s FJ40.

That was truly ugly, but got me through the East African mud most rainy seasons!

Loads of old Cruisers in this part of the woods (Cotswolds).

Can't see many similar aged Mitsubishi's or Isuzu.

I agree that they never sold well here, pricy, thirsty, and no badge appeal can be a problem here. They will last well, however if I had to choose a large Toyota I would have the yank only Sequoia.

The opposite up here, there’s loads of older Shoguns and some Troopers left but a Land Cruiser is a rare beast. Great cars though but Toyota wanted just too much money new, they were much more expensive than similar sized rivals and dealers just didn’t seem interested in selling them.

If you think the front looks bad on the Toyota version (i actually think it looks OK), have a look at the Lexus version

He doesn't mince his words either.
