Ford Transit Connect - Disable reverse alarm - luke glossop

Just bought a van which comes with a reversing alarm to alert passers by when I'm on the move. The thing is, I don't know how to turn it off when I don't want to wake the whole street when im reversing late at night.

Theres a message on the dash which says "Gear shift silent reverse alarm. To over-ride select reverse twice".

Now I have put the van into reverse multiple times. Tried turning off the engine, releasing the clutch etc in between selecting reverse. Still making the alarm.

Has anyone got any idea how to disable it, please?? Im desperate

A very quick Google gives:

You can disable the backup alarm in a few seconds.

  1. Start the Ford vehicle, and put it in reverse. The backup alarm will begin to sound.
  2. Press the "Select/Reset" stem on the center dash controls. ...
  3. Wait four seconds for the "Select/Reset" menu to return to the main screen.
